We were fortunate enough to have 2 incredible employees come to our first day of camp and explore the Furnace creek with the youth! A day to remember.

We had the great opportunity to explore the river by the Missisquoi museum, listen to elders share their experiences about how they used the river in the past and how important it is to protect and engage with the river. The kids loved asking questions about the river and we had a blast of a day!

LCBP - Lake Champlain Bassin Project

Without their incredible support, our camp would have never taken place. An amazing organization that protects and researches the river bassin that drops into Lake Champlain. Our Pike river is part of that water system and we are delighted to work hand in hand with LCBP to do research and to teach citizens about healthy rivers for all to enjoy.

Café Blinn Stanbridge East

Our youth created a first edition environmental cards that were exchanged for a delicious treat at our local coffee shop Café Blinn. Named after a local family that owned the building, the café brings together long time residents and newly arrived citizens. The kids had a blast exchanging their H2O cards for a treat!

Le Noyau Education

We spent the day learning about the differences between fresh, salty and chlorinated water under the microscope! We also planted water loving Cephalanthus bushes that grow beautiful white pompom flowers (hydrogen) and morph into red pompom fruits (oxygen)! Our perfect H2O river loving bush that will help stabilize our riverbeds for generations to come.

Summer Camp

Our 2025 Riparian S.T.E.A.M Camp

This summers camp was incredible! We had the priviledge to explore various points of the river together. The kids learnt about microscopes, macro-invertebrates, molecules and circular economies. I truly fell in love with this cohort of kids and we look forward to next years camp where we will continue to safely explore the river, creating little eco citizens who are concerned with the health and prosperity of our local ressource.

Curriculum

To care for something, we must create a relationship with it.

We worked in the world of water - H2O, Na and Cl to help the campers understand how the smallest molecule can make up one of the mightiest elements known. Working alongside other community organizations, we explored various points of the river, engaged in water sampling, river transplanting, river arts and crafts and created our own trading cards.

S.T.E.A.M learning

Each kid came with their own challenges but we found ways to help them thrive all the while learning about the Pike River through science and art

We really engaged the children with getting dirty through play and learning how to trust and navigate the river. Microscopes were given to each child so that they could roam and discover the sacred riverbed around them
